BWG Functions is the new name given to the beautiful Bluewater Grill in Applecross. Set in a lovely heritage building on Heathcote Reserve, BWG reflects a combination of historic charm with a contemporary feel.
But what makes a wedding special at this iconic venue? We caught up with the team at BWG Functions to find out more.
What makes weddings special at BWG?
We are situated at a picturesque and peaceful location, with panoramic views of the river and Perth city skyline as your wedding backdrop. We have a stunning flexible space here that can very much be made bespoke to your vision whether you were looking at an intimate wedding or a cocktail style for up to 400 guests, with a dedicated and passionate team who ensure even the smallest of details are our utmost priority.
What is the one piece of advice you would give to a couple when choosing their wedding venue?
It is important to choose a venue that reflects a combination of elements that are most important to you as a couple, location for you and your guests, and somewhere that reflects and understands your vision and can personalise your plans.
The day of a wedding must be busy and exciting at BWG after months of planning with couples? Tell us what goes on behind the scenes?
We are very excited to welcome our couples and on the day we go through all of our final checks of the room set up, coordinate suppliers and deliveries and have a final run through of the schedule, table plan, place cards and every last detail is checked off. Then we wait in anticipation of the arrival of the Groom and party and then finally the Bride. It is such an exciting and emotional experience to be part of these final moments after months of preparation and planning together to then watch that magical moment of when they say ‘I Do’.
What are your favourite wedding trends of this year?
I love the continuation of the vintage theme, those personalised touches that represent the couples’ style throughout, fresh flowers, tea rose blooms that fill the air with stunning scents and the elegance of simplistic style and candlelight.
What words of advice would you give to a newly engaged couple just starting out on their planning?
It is important to be inspired to create your vision that you have for your day, visit wedding expos show rooms and gather as much information as you can, have fun with it! Create a mood board and collate all the aspects you want to incorporate to your day and show them to your prospective venues. We get as excited as you do about incorporating the smallest details to personalise your day!
